IN 1915, JOHN J. HUNT opened his law office in Hamilton.  He served his community with distinction and was appointed King's Counsel in 1935.  After his death in 1945, his daughter Constance (who was one of Ontario's first female lawyers) and her husband, J. Monty McLean, continued the practice along with Walter Tuchtie, K.C., who went on to become the senior judge of what is now the Ontario Court of Justice.

In 1975, John Hunt's grandsons, John Hunt Nolan and Dermot P. Nolan, established the firm of Forsyth Nolan in partnership with Robert E. Forsyth, Q.C.  In 1978, the Nolans and the McLeans merged their firms as Nolan, Nolan, McLean & Associates, and since 1988 the firm has been associated with the law offices of McLelland and Dean, and Murray R. Mazza.

In 1995, Franco Ciarlo joined the firm and he became a partner in 2003.  In 2012, John Hunt’s great-grandson Edward Nolan joined the firm.
